I don't have enough money to print a new issue of the zine. So, that sucks.

Issue #2 was reviewed by The Feminist Review and Ain't It Cool News (Scroll Halfway Down), as well as Zine World #27, who called it "an ambitious and cheeky collection" with "no filler." It is and always will be available online, on the right hand side of this blog.

Until my money situation changes I'm just going to publish stuff online at hahaclever dot com.

You may have noticed the domain name http://candyandcigarettes.com has expired. I'm going to let it go for now. Is that giving up? I feel like I'm breaking up with someone.

i haven't been blogging, i know, i've been busy living. things are sort of crazy round here, but i'm getting published a lot, or at least getting told i will be published at some point in the near future, a lot, and getting thing set up for hahaclever dot com, and doing this comic book adaptation of ubu roi that i'm translating from the french, and still doing the viva radio playlists for california select, so it's not like i'm not doing anything or anything. - reynard seifert

- No, really, it's true. It's a new hour-long mix by Reynard Seifert.

- Isn't that the guy who posted mixes on this blog every week for forty weeks until he 'sold out' to American Apparel's Viva Radio and stopped bothering with this blog?

- Totally, that's the guy.

- I hate that guy.

- Me too, but this is a pretty good mix, he made it for Fecal Face but they didn't post it so he's posting it here, maybe you should check it out.

- Are there going to be more soon by other people?

- Yes, soon.

- Really? Soon?

- What's been going on with that whole Viva Radio thing?

- You mean California Select?

- That's the one.

- It's been going pretty well. Reynard's sharing the reigns to AA photographer and vintage-maven Mae Kaufman every once in a while, and there are going to be some guest shows coming up.

- What kind of guest shows?

- Well, there's going to be a radical mix by Patrick Healy in a couple weeks.

- Wasn't he one of the Zom Zoms?

- Yeah, and he has a new band called Pataphysics.

- Alright, what else?

- There's going to be a mix by Tao Lin that will include Tao giving shoplifting instructions for like ten minutes.

- Woah, isn't that the famous author whose novella Shoplifting From American Apparel is coming out in September?

- Yeah, it's going to be pretty wild, possibly even 'controversial.'

- Sounds really dumb.

- Fully. Tao already blogged about the playlist.

- Anything else?

- Reynard and his girlfriend are going to start publishing e-zines on haha clever dot com, which is just a tumblr right now, but will eventually be an amazing website, much better than this one. Their first e-zine will be zzzombiezzz, a short story about Reynard's epic battle with a zombie named Amherst who once slept on his chaise lounge.

- I meant, 'Anything else music-wise?'

- Oh, yeah. Reynard's also going to start hosting a new program on Youth Radio that may or may not be called 'Calling All Kids,' which will seek to introduce America's youth to artists that are influencing today's most interesting music makers and also include interviews with some of those people and their music.

- So it will pretty much be the coolest music program for kids (as well as adults) ever made?

- Yup, it's going to be pretty epic.

- This is like, a lot of information and I'm still feeling very 'blah.'

- Have you downloaded Avant-tarde yet?

- Oh, I forgot. Thanks a lot, whoever you are.

- No problem. You can call me 'fuck face.'

Tumblr, New Mixes Coming, Etc.

I thought I would tell whoever might be concerned that I've been doing the tumblr thing lately, since I don't have a job and stuff.

It just takes less time to put up whatever, because tumblr isn't really blogging. As my friend Ray said, "It isn't really anything."

My friend Jonny Negron is going to start uploading tape mixes to this blog, which will be really cool. He is a really good DJ.

And finally, the Viva Radio show is live now - California Select. There are three playlists up by me. More soon to come, so keep checking back. Hopefully it will become a more regular weekly thing on the schedule and stuff... soon.

Viva Radio

So, I got offered a gig managing the California Select program for American Apparel's Viva Radio. While this is a really great opportunity that I'm super-duper-uber pumped about, it unfortunately means an untimely end to my 52 week/52 mixes project. Whatevs, 40 is a nice round number and it was fun while it lasted but I have a much larger audience now and I need to concentrate on this shit.

My first playlist hasn't been scheduled yet, but I'll be sure to mention when it does. Until then, give a listen to the shows already posted by other people. They're real good.

This also means I won't be blogging for a little while, since I'm also trying to put together the third issue of my zine.

Therefore, goodbye. For now.
